A Reflection on Panji Eco Village Some experiences are not measured by the places we visit, but by the people who make us feel that we have truly arrived. My experience at Panji Eco Village was one of those experiences. I arrived expecting to discover a beautiful part of Bali, but I left with something much more meaningful: a deeper appreciation for the people who open their homes, their traditions, and their way of life to visitors with such generosity and warmth. What touched me most was the genuine hospitality of the people of Panji. There was a beautiful simplicity in the way we were welcomed—without pretension, without distance, and with a sincere desire to share. Every conversation, every smile, every meal, and every moment spent together became part of an experience that felt deeply human. In a world where tourism can sometimes become focused on seeing more, doing more, and moving faster, Panji reminded me of something much more important: travel is ultimately about connection. The beauty of the village, its landscapes, its culture, and its traditions are undoubtedly memorable. But what gives Panji its soul are the people. They showed me that hospitality is not simply a service we provide to travelers; it is an act of generosity, an invitation to understand one another, and an opportunity to create memories that remain long after the journey ends. I am profoundly grateful to Dini and the Panji Eco Village community for sharing a part of their lives with us. I hope that the future of tourism continues to create opportunities for places like Panji where tourism does not simply bring visitors to a destination, but allows people, cultures, and communities to meet with dignity and mutual respect. Although this was one of my farthest journeys to the antipode of my side of the world, I thank the Panji people, for reminding me that the most meaningful journeys are not always the ones that take us the farthest, but the ones that bring us closer to people.
